The Pinesorrow Collection, Vol. 1
A downloadable zine
"...Readers will, no doubt, be familiar with The Pinesorrow Collection -- the network has often been the subject of much speculation over the years, thanks mainly to the prestigious curatorial history, the deep pockets of the organization and the most exacting standards that have gone into building the collection over the years. At last, those who have not been able to access the exhibitions of the collection over the years get a brief glimpse of some of the riches contained within. Long time watchers of the collection may have raised eyebrows at the appointment of J.M.P. Romana, (about whom little is known) but this new publication shows both discerning curatorial tastes and a democratising spirit that has brought new pieces into the collection and new eyes unto its riches."
-Nostrum, Journal of the Jervis Dudley Centre for Xenophilology and The Non-Euclidean Media Research Group
A private collection in the Midatlantic, waiting in the rooms of a long-abandoned mansion. The curators carefully tend it, acquiring only what it needs to grow strong and healthy. These are a scant few of those pieces.
The Pinesorrow Collection: Vol. 1 is the first in what will hopefully be many art and narrative zines set in a dark academia alternate history flavored with the weird.
Praise for The Pinesorrow Collection: Vol. 1:
"The Pinesorrow Collection invites you into a seemingly familiar world of academic dissection and dry aesthetic discourse but the surface peels away to reveal a glimpse of larger, more mysterious world. Each of the works feels connected to that sur-reality while offering up their own unique qualities for the viewer to inspect either from their own perspective, that of the commentary or a kaleidoscopic mash up of the two."
-Leeman Kessler
"The Pinesorrow Collection is like having a lovely museum to yourself with a personal guided tour from the curator. Take a leisurely stroll through its halls with Jacqueline and revel in the beauty of rarely seen art. I highly recommend it."
-Ross Payton
"Friend of the Lid Jax Romana sent the first piece of mail to the new address and it's this fantastic new zine which takes the idea of dark academia and maps it onto the idea of a private art collection and what you can find inside it. The line 'What do you See? What do you need to See?' is thick with implication and meaning and this small book has real weight."
-Alasdair Stuart in The Full Lid

"The Pinesorrow Collection" is an introspective, soothing, and occasionally haunting reflection on education, knowledge, and art. There is a constant air of mystery and curiosity underlying it, and I am deeply fascinated by the background of the Collection that is hinted at within these pages. This volume contains several pieces of art in varying styles, all accompanied by explanations and musings by the Curator. It is dark academia incarnate in a beautiful little zine, and while the PDF is stunning on its own, what fits the genre better than holding a physical book? I'm eagerly awaiting Volume 2!
